This video just BEGS to be read through a feminist and/or orientalist lens.  
I'm preserving the idea here in my blog.  
Maybe this week I'll think of a way to connect it with Woman Warrior. (!!!)

    Desi,
    This is so interesting and would be fun to read through an Orientalist lens. Said always talked about how part of Orientalism was how the Other was in this frozen state of development while the West's image was always changing. The Orient is simply an experience, a picture, just like this girl is sort of...floating around and not part of the world she is in.

    thanks dina. i so wish that my brain were wired to go that deep this week. i think i'm having to settle for fragments of really important insight left underdeveloped.

    hey, at least i have fragments, right?
